Day 195: Bitter Sweet

Sheroo's burial was this morning. Got to see him one last time, which helped. I didn't know it would be this hard to lose a pet. I hope my family will not feel so hurt for too long as it's painful to see.

Before Sheroo's passing I had been pretty darn excited about another chance to explore San Francisco, but missing him and knowing I won't get to hold him again has dulled everything a bit. His death also brings to mind the loved ones, human or otherwise, that friends and family have recently lost, which hurts to think about as well.

So, maybe this will be a good reflective trip. A chance to appreciate the sights and hopefully spend time with friends I haven't seen in quite a while, and appreciate them as well.

  1. May Sheroo rest in peace. The death of a pet is almost like family. Perhaps you saw him as a member of your family?
I am sure he would like your family to get another cat eventually - not to replace him but to meet another interesting spirit.

  2. @Particulars, thank you for your kind words =) Yes, Sheroo was definitely a family member, and a major one because he really brought us all together. Your last statement, that having a pet is a chance to "meet another interesting spirit," was so uniquely and beautifully put, and it really helped me when I first read it. It's such a sweet, different way to look at animals, and I love that it shows the equal respect we should give them. Thanks =)
