Back on this beautiful campus, it finally felt like Ramadan when I spent iftar with friends and new faces. I was reminded of how important community is for this special month and for the religion as a whole - without community, friends, family, a piece is missing. Something so special is gained from these gatherings to break fast, spiritual in more ways than one. The importance of people in our lives is emphasized now, as we feel the emptiness more so this month than in others if we have to eat alone. But when others surround us, even if unknown to us but knowingly in the same community, the opposite happens, and we feel happy to be a part of it all.
