After all those tips from MS Living and episodes of "American Pickers," I finally got a chance to go to an Antique Flea Market in Long Beach. Armed with the express purpose of finding vintage luggage for the upcoming engagement shoot, I strolled up and down every aisle, enjoying all the incredible finds and wishing I had a place/reason to put them at home. I practiced a bit of bargaining and acquired two pieces of vintage luggage for $25, a great deal I'd say.

Sometimes, though, even more interesting than the objects at flea markets and such places are the people, both those selling their wares and those walking through. Watching people interact here and seeing what certain people find worthy of a purchase is fascinating. This particular market seemed to attract people from all sorts of walks of life.

Some day I hope to be able to road trip across the country and explore all the various flea markets in America. These events seem to be small yet lively glimpses into history.

  1. Be careful what you buy at flea markets! A number of items have bed bugs in them . . .(furniture, luggage and the like).

  2. I guess that's why they call it a "flea" market! ba-dum tish! (I apologize for that)

    (Thanks for the tip!).
